Atmanirbhar Start-up Venture Fund is the first scheme of Atmanirbhar Laghu Vikas Trust, a close-ended Category I AIF – Venture Capital Fund registered with SEBI in August 2022. The fund is sponsored by SIDBI and managed by SIDBI Venture Capital Limited (SVCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SIDBI incorporated in 1999. Its primary objective is to invest in scalable and sustainable startups, emerging ventures, and early-stage businesses with potential to deliver economic, social, or environmental benefits for India. The fund targets manufacturing and services startups that have the potential to become leaders in their respective industry segments. SVCL's investment strategy involves taking equity and/or convertible instrument positions in unlisted companies through privately negotiated transactions, supplemented by active mentoring and value-addition to accelerate portfolio company growth. Over its 25-year history, SVCL has managed multiple thematic funds covering technology startups, manufacturing SMEs, agri-businesses, and financial inclusion companies, with notable portfolio companies including BillDesk (IndiaIdeas.com), PolicyBazaar, and Stove Kraft.
