Janak Merchant Securities Pvt. Ltd is a portfolio management company based in Pune and registered with SEBI (Registration Number INP000001215) that invests in listed Indian equities. The firm has five decades of experience in the Indian capital markets. Founded by Mr. Janak Merchant in the 1970s with the objective of creating an equity investment culture in Pune, he also founded the Pune Stock Exchange in 1983. The firm transitioned from a traditional broking and investment banking model to an asset management business in 2005, launching its Portfolio Management Service. In 1999, the second generation, Mr. Jaideep Merchant, joined the business after completing his Chartered Accountancy and later became a CFA charter-holder in 2006. The firm focuses on long-term wealth generation and has advised some families across three generations.
