Intermediated Solutions for South Asian Private Equity
SH India Opportunities Trust is a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund managed by Stratford House Advisors LLP, a Mumbai-based private equity fund advisory and investment management firm. Stratford House was established as a spin-out from the South Asia Funds team of BII (formerly CDC Group), the UK Government's development finance institution. The founding partners — Alagappan 'Muru' Murugappan and Piyush Jhawar — spent over seven years with CDC/BII holding leadership roles in new South Asian fund commitments, portfolio management, and legacy fund management across China and South East Asia. The firm continues to advise BII on a portion of its Indian funds portfolio and also advises Dayton Advisors (a BII wholly owned subsidiary) on its India secondaries partnership with Coller Capital. Stratford House Advisors LLP was incorporated in India in 2021 (registered at Vaswani Chambers, Worli, Mumbai) and is the vehicle through which the India AIF is operated. Stratford House Capital Pte. Ltd., the Singapore entity (CMS licensed by MAS), is the sister entity. The fund was registered on 29 July 2025.
Stratford House provides intermediated solutions — both fund-based and non-fund-based — to limited partners and general partners across the South Asian private equity industry. Its investment approach draws on deep fund manager relationships, extensive portfolio data from managing over 60 funds and investing in more than 20 funds, and firsthand LP/GP expertise from decades of institutional allocations work. The firm targets primary fund investments, secondary fund investments, and customised advisory solutions within the South Asian alternatives ecosystem, with a long-term, constructive, and relationship-driven style of investing consistent with institutional development finance best practices.
