Overview

About

Srei Alternative Investment Trust is one of the early SEBI-registered Category I Alternative Investment Funds in India, associated with the Srei Group, a Kolkata-based infrastructure and financial services conglomerate. The fund was part of Srei’s broader alternative investment platform focused on infrastructure, clean energy, and development-oriented sectors aligned with India’s growth priorities. The manager entity, Srei Alternative Investment Managers Limited, was responsible for managing such funds, including infrastructure-focused vehicles like Build India Fund. Over time, the Srei Group faced significant financial stress and insolvency proceedings, which impacted its investment management operations and visibility in the alternative assets space. As a result, there is currently limited active public presence or updated disclosures for the fund or its manager.

Investment Philosophy

Historically, Srei’s alternative investment philosophy was centered on supporting infrastructure development and long-term capital formation in India. The approach emphasized patient capital, sectoral expertise, and alignment with national development priorities, particularly in infrastructure and energy.
