About

Scale Ventures Trust (SEBI Reg. IN/AIF1/16-17/0274) is a Category I Venture Capital Fund managed by Scale Ventures LLP (formerly Scale Ventures Private Limited), a Pune-based early-stage VC firm founded in 2016 by Nilesh Rathi and Rahul Narvekar. Nilesh Rathi is a fourth-generation entrepreneur from the Rathi Group of Companies, Jodhpur, with experience across chemical engineering, global management, and family business leadership. Rahul Narvekar is a former CEO of IndianRoots and alumnus of IIM Calcutta; both founders are batchmates from IIM-C. The fund launched with a target corpus of INR 100 crore (~$16 million) and focuses on early-stage technology, B2B, and consumer internet startups in India, with particular concentration in business productivity software, IT, and health tech. The firm has made 12+ investments across a diversified portfolio including Artivatic (acquired by Mphasis), Mashinga, Supersourcing, Jivaana, EngineerBabu, and Allo Health. Scale Ventures also expanded through the acquisition of Guerrilla Ventures (2016), bringing in additional sector expertise in DeepTech and AI. Investment Philosophy

Scale Ventures operates on the philosophy that entrepreneurship is a way of life — an agile strategy to start, build, grow, and scale. The firm invests in early-stage (pre-seed and seed) startups in IT, business products, business services, and health tech, with a concentrated portfolio approach. Beyond capital, Scale brings mentorship, network access, and deep operational guidance to founders, believing that the right mindset — what it calls the 'Alchemist Mindset' — is as important as capital in building breakthrough businesses. The team prioritises founders who demonstrate both intelligence and emotional resilience, and focuses on leveraging collective learnings from its network to help portfolio companies scale.

Nilesh Rathi

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Nilesh Rathi is a fourth-generation entrepreneur from the Rathi Group of Companies and Co-Founder of Scale Ventures. He has over 20 years of diverse, cross-functional industry experience spanning strategy, globalization, financial management, and technology adoption within one of India's leading industrial groups. He is a member of the Seed Fund Committee at NSTEDB (National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board), India's largest science-business incubator. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and a graduate degree in Chemistry from the US, and completed the Global Management Programme from IIM Calcutta.

Rahul Narvekar

Co-Founder

Rahul Narvekar is Co-Founder of Scale Ventures and former CEO of IndianRoots, a fashion e-commerce platform. He and Nilesh Rathi are batchmates from IIM Calcutta. His focus is on mentoring startups in product ideation and building strategic fundraising strategies across stages.
