Nepean Investment Trust (IN/AIF3/17-18/0385) is a SEBI-registered Category III AIF managed by Nepean Capital LLP, a Mumbai-based fund management firm co-founded in 2016 by Gautam Trivedi and Anand Trivedi — two seasoned finance professionals who together bring over 50 years of experience in Asia's financial markets at global institutions including Goldman Sachs, GE Capital, Merrill Lynch, and ABN AMRO Rothschild. Nepean's funds invest across public and private markets in India. The Cat III AIF (Nepean Investment Trust) is the public markets vehicle, primarily investing in Indian listed equities through a rigorous, bottom-up stock selection process. Nepean also manages a Cat II AIF (private equity fund) that invests in the next generation of tech-enabled ventures. Key portfolio companies include Extramarks Education India, Landmark Cars Ltd, Maddock Films, Raymond Realty, UFO Moviez India, and Collective Artist Networks. The firm is headquartered at 1106 Regent Chambers, Jamnalal Bajaj Marg, Nariman Point, Mumbai 400021. Performance (as at 31 December 2025) is disclosed to investors through quarterly newsletters including the Nepean Long Term Opportunities Fund II series. The fund's name 'Nepean' refers to Nepean Sea Road, one of Mumbai's most prestigious addresses — reflecting the firm's Mumbai roots and positioning.
Nepean Capital's investment philosophy is guided by four core principles: transparency, accountability, cooperation, and hard work. The firm leverages its on-the-ground presence and deep understanding of the Indian market to make prescient investment decisions that generate superior returns. Both co-founders spent over four years in the Corporate Finance and M&A teams at Reliance Industries, India's largest company, which gave them a unique understanding of how Indian businesses operate in terms of strategy, finance, and execution — differentiating them from purely financial fund managers. For the public markets fund, Nepean applies a rigorous, bottom-up stock selection process to identify and invest in Indian companies with strong long-term fundamentals, regardless of market capitalisation. For the private equity fund, Nepean serves on the boards of portfolio companies, taking an active role in shaping strategic direction. The team's track record of identifying emerging growth companies across sectors (consumer, media, entertainment, education, auto retail) reflects a conviction-based, active ownership approach.
