Empowering Madhya Pradesh MSMEs through equity capital
Madhya Pradesh MSME Fund Trust is a SEBI-registered Category I Alternative Investment Fund (IN/AIF1/17-18/0312), established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh to support the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state. Registered with SEBI in April 2017, the trust was set up with an initial corpus of ₹100 crore (with a green-shoe option of ₹50 crore) under the SME Innovation Fund, the first fund raised under this trust structure. The investment manager, Madhya Pradesh Venture Finance Limited (MPVFL), was launched as an asset management company with the specific mandate of managing funds of the Madhya Pradesh MSME Fund Trust. MPVFL received its SEBI certification to establish the venture fund on April 4, 2017. The fund is designed to invest equity and equity-linked instruments in early-stage, growth-stage, and innovative MSME companies in Madhya Pradesh, including manufacturing and services sectors. Capital contributions are intended to come from the state government as well as multilateral agencies, banks, financial institutions, and corporates. The fund plays a strategic role in bridging the equity capital gap for MSMEs in the state and catalysing job creation and economic development.
The fund is guided by the Madhya Pradesh government's mandate to catalyse equity capital investment in MSMEs, focusing on innovative, scalable business models in the state. It aims to invest in companies with high potential for wealth and employment creation, with a particular emphasis on manufacturing and technology-driven enterprises.
