The fund is headquartered at 2297, 24th Main, 16th Cross, HSR Sector 1, Bengaluru 560102 — the same address as the SEBI registration. Mela Ventures was founded in 2020 by Krishnakumar Natarajan ('KK') and Parthasarathy N.S., co-founders of Mindtree (India's pioneering IT services firm, which they scaled from a VC-funded startup to a USD 2.5 billion market cap company). The fund's maiden scheme, MV Core Tech Fund I, achieved final close at ₹320 crore, backed by a diverse group of global investors, government institutions, tech professionals, and family offices — including SIDBI's Fund of Funds for Startups and Nippon India Digital Innovation AIF. As of 2025, the fund has invested in 16 companies and is planning a second fund targeting approximately ₹1,000 crore. Mela Ventures invests exclusively in early-to-growth-stage B2B startups across AI/ML, AR/VR, IoT, cloud infrastructure, deep tech, adtech, agritech, and enterprise technology. Notable portfolio companies include GalaxEye Space (SAR satellite), Mindgrove (semiconductor chips), VuNet Systems (observability), General Aeronautics (agricultural drones), Indra Water, Optimized Electrotech, and Knolskape.
