Disruption Fund is a SEBI-registered Category I Angel Fund (reg. IN/AIF1/24-25/1570), managed by Spirit Media Private Limited — a Mumbai-based media, entertainment, and brand strategy company. The fund has been described as being 'from the house of Spirit Media', which has been actively investing in early-stage consumer and consumer tech companies for over a decade before formalising the SEBI-registered AIF vehicle in August 2024. The fund focuses on early-stage companies in consumer and consumer tech industries. It was launched to enable founders' friends and family (FF&F) to participate in curated investment opportunities alongside Spirit Media's proprietary investments. The fund's investment range is ₹10 lakh to ₹75 lakh per company. Notable portfolio investments include VS Mani (fashion), Wicked (consumer brand), Moderate, Bold Care (men's wellness), and other early-stage consumer startups. The registered office is at 7A and 7B, Siddhivinayak Chambers, Gandhi Nagar, Bandra East, Mumbai 400051 — the same address previously used by Varde Partners India (a different fund at the same commercial address).
Disruption Fund's investment philosophy centres on three principles: (1) investing only in sectors the team understands and has expertise in — primarily consumer and consumer tech; (2) carefully picking a selected range of companies and establishing close relationships with founders; (3) utilising Spirit Media's network and expertise in brand strategy and marketing as a competitive edge for portfolio companies. The fund targets long-term compounding in early-stage consumer companies, projecting a 41% return rate based on historical investments.
