Compounding Gems India Trust is a SEBI-registered Category III Alternative Investment Fund (reg. IN/AIF3/23-24/1452), registered in February 2024 and managed by Compounding Gems Capital Advisors LLP, a Kota, Rajasthan-based investment manager. The India Fund operates as an open-ended scheme investing primarily in Indian-listed equities and runs in parallel with a US-domiciled fund — Compounding Gems Aravalli Fund I, LP (a Delaware limited partnership) — which is registered as an investment advisor in Texas and Washington, USA. Together, the dual-jurisdiction platform enables both domestic and overseas investors to access the same India-focused long-only equity strategy through their respective geographies. The fund is led by Nitin Goyal and Saurabh Khandelwal, both IIT Kharagpur and IIM Lucknow alumni with deep backgrounds in private equity and investment management across India and the Middle East.

Investment Philosophy

Compounding Gems is a value investor with an ownership mindset. The fund seeks to make long-term investments in businesses with strong fundamentals and outstanding promoters (majority shareholders) at an attractive valuation. The team prioritises trust and transparency and aims to deliver compounding returns over a long period of time. The strategy is anchored in the belief that the best returns come from owning exceptional Indian businesses and allowing compounding to work over time — avoiding speculative or short-term trading approaches in favour of conviction-led, concentrated long positions.

Nitin Goyal

Co-Founder & Fund Manager

Nitin Goyal has more than 20 years of experience in private and public equity investments and consulting in India. His most recent role was as a Partner at Blue Lotus Capital, an India-focused multi-strategy AMC. Prior to that, he worked at Avigo Capital and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, IIM Lucknow, and Stanford University.

Saurabh Khandelwal

Co-Founder & Fund Manager

Saurabh Khandelwal has over 20 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, and investment banking across India and the Middle East. He was most recently at Majid Al Futtaim Holding (MAF) in the UAE, managing investments, M&A, and venture capital. Prior to that, he worked at Tata Capital (Private Equity), Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and Ambit Corporate Finance. He is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Lucknow.
