Seize the Day — Emerging SME Leaders in India's Consumption Economy
Carpediem Capital Partners Fund I (IN/AIF2/14-15/0125) is a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund registered in November 2014, managed by Carpediem Advisors Private Limited — the investment management entity of Carpediem Capital, a leading mid-market Indian private equity firm focused on the India consumption and services opportunity. Founded in 2015 by Abhishek Sharman (former Principal at India Equity Partners) and Hithendra Ramachandran, and chaired by Arvind Nair (former MD of Domino's Pizza India), Carpediem is often the first or only institutional investor in its portfolio companies — making control or significant minority investments of USD 2–5 million in fast-growing SME consumer and services businesses. Fund I had a target corpus of USD 50 million, investing in sectors including consumer brands, consumer services, healthcare, fintech, and managed services. Notable Fund I portfolio companies include Flipspaces (commercial design-and-build, 9x MOIC / 40% IRR exit in August 2025), Yaantra/Gadgetwood (refurbished electronics), and Sindhuja Microcredit. The fund is registered at 507A, The Aralias, DLF Golf Links, Phase 5, Gurgaon — the founding team's residential address.
Carpediem Capital follows a bottom-up investment approach with a thesis of backing emerging SME leaders in India's consumption and services economy across two broad themes: companies creating consumer brands, and companies organizing services that have historically been fragmented and informal. The firm targets control or significant minority transactions under USD 10 million — an underserved segment with few dedicated PE funds. As often the first or largest institutional investor, Carpediem actively partners with entrepreneurs to co-build companies through board participation, operational and strategic guidance, governance enhancement, and executive talent development. The investment team combines financial, operating, and entrepreneurial expertise to accelerate portfolio companies' growth trajectories and generate superior risk-adjusted returns.
