About

Blacksoil India Credit Fund (IN/AIF2/20-21/0784) is a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund managed by Blacksoil Asset Management Private Limited (BAMPL) — the AIF arm and wholly owned subsidiary of Blacksoil Capital Private Limited (BCPL). Launched in November 2020 as BlackSoil's first venture debt and structured finance AIF (following two earlier real estate AIFs), the fund provides customised alternative credit solutions to growth-stage companies, financial institutions, NBFCs, and MSMEs across sectors including fintech, agritech, healthcare, climate tech, consumer services, SaaS, and B2B platforms. BAMPL serves as investment manager to four SEBI-registered Category II AIFs and is also registered as a Co-investment Portfolio Manager with SEBI. The BlackSoil Group, co-founded by Mohinder Pal Bansal and Ankur Bansal in 2016, has deployed over INR 5,000 crore across 214+ deals and counts ideaForge, Upstox, Bluestone, OYO, Udaan, Zetwerk, Spinny, Purplle, and Curefoods among its portfolio. In 2025, BlackSoil Capital merged with Caspian Debt to create a combined NBFC with AUM of INR 1,900 crore. The fund is headquartered at 1203, Lodha Supremus, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai.

Investment Philosophy

BlackSoil's investment philosophy centres on value creation through sound fundamentals — providing flexible, non-dilutive debt capital to businesses that traditional banks underserve. The firm differentiates itself from conventional venture debt players by deploying capital when companies truly need it rather than purely alongside equity rounds, extending runway and bridging financing gaps. BlackSoil targets mid-market companies at the post-Series A to pre-IPO stage with ticket sizes of INR 5–30 crore, prioritising sectors with resilient business models: B2B, D2C, fintech, health tech, SaaS, deep tech, logistics, and agritech. An active ownership approach combines debt financing with strategic and operational support to portfolio companies.

Mohinder Pal Bansal is the Chairman and co-founder of Blacksoil Capital Private Limited. He leads the merged BlackSoil-Caspian entity as Chairman following the November 2025 merger. He was one of the original backers of BlackSoil alongside family offices of Allcargo Logistics and Navneet Education.

Ankur Bansal is the Managing Director and co-founder of Blacksoil Capital and the SEBI-registered contact person for Blacksoil India Credit Fund. He co-founded BlackSoil as a financial consulting firm and transformed it into a leading alternative credit platform comprising an NBFC and six credit funds with over INR 5,000 crore deployed. He has a strong network spanning domestic and international PE/VC firms and deep knowledge of the PE/VC and real estate sectors.
