Astute Investment Management Private Limited, erstwhile Aries Stocktrades Private Limited, was incorporated in 1995. It used to offer Stock Broking on NSE and BSE earlier. In 2008, Astute got the Portfolio Management Services (PMS) certification from SEBI and the focus of the company is on managing clients’ wealth by investing in Indian public equities.
At Astute Investment Management, we believe in long term value investing with an investment horizon of at least 2–3 years. We follow a bottom-up stock picking approach using fundamental research and evaluate investments based on three core pillars: Business, Management, and Valuation. Business: Strong long-term prospects, economic moat, scalable opportunity, strong cash generation, leadership positioning, and improving financial ratios. Management: Capability to scale profitably, disciplined capital allocation, strong governance, shareholder accountability, and financial discipline. Valuation: Investing at reasonable or attractive valuations with a margin of safety, avoiding excessive optimism priced into stocks. We prefer mid to small sized companies, maintain concentrated portfolios (8–12 stocks), avoid unnecessary churn, and allow long-term compounding to drive wealth creation.

Director since 1995. Former Senior Vice President at Bank of America and Country Manager at Aetna International India with over 28 years of international banking and financial services experience. MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and B.A. (Hons) Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.

Started PMS in 2008 and leads equity research and portfolio management. Has over 21 years of experience in Indian equities and previously worked as Associate Analyst at Macquarie Securities India. Holds M.Sc Accounting and Finance from London School of Economics and M.Com from Mumbai University.
