Leading financial institution for distressed asset solutions.
Areion Special Situation Fund is a Category II AIF established as a contributory determinate investment trust under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. It is managed by Areion Assets Management Private Limited (AAMC), the investment management arm of the Areion Group — a Mumbai-based financial services group founded in 2013 by Manish Motilal Lalwani. The fund focuses on investing in distressed and stressed assets in India, targeting companies experiencing financial stress or showing potential for distress across sectors including textiles, metals, pharmaceuticals, auto components, paper, packaging, real estate, and education. The group has played a pivotal role in the resolution and restructuring of over INR 30,000 crore in stressed assets.
Areion invests in debt and equity securities, quasi-equity, mezzanine debt, and security receipts issued by Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) in companies experiencing financial stress, distress, or working capital mismatch, as well as last-mile funding situations. The fund is sector-agnostic and generates long-term capital appreciation and yield commensurate with the risk profile of distressed assets. The strategy draws on deep expertise in SARFAESI, DRT, IBC, and related legislation, with strong relationships across public and private sector banks, NBFCs, and ARCs across India.
