The Kallanai, also known as the Grand Anicut, was built over 1300 years ago to harness the power of the Kaveri and irrigate farmlands in the region. At Anicut Capital, we take inspiration from this engineering marvel to deploy capital and build long-lasting value for our portfolio companies. Our values are inspired by the Grand Anicut Dam (Kallanai Dam), an ancient engineering marvel located in Tamil Nadu, India. Built over 2,000 years ago by the Chola dynasty, it was one of the first major irrigation systems in the world, designed to harness the power of the Kaveri River and irrigate the surrounding farmland. Anicut Capital's journey began in September 2015 with a vision to empower entrepreneurs and fuel economic growth. From launching our first Private Credit Fund in 2016, to entering into equity investments through our Seed Fund in 2020, followed by successful launches in Growth Equity and Late-stage Funds, we have evolved into one of India's most reputed multi-asset investment managers.
